I designed this presentation for Respia and pitched my business case for investment. I was successful and secured venture capital equity investment, public government grants, and philanthropic donations as well as prize money from design competitions.
My capstone project-turned-start-up, Respia, placed International Runner Up in the James Dyson Award 2016 and was centred around the user experience of managing asthma with wearable technology. Respia is an app and wearable that empowers the user through accurate information about their medication usage and lung health, whilst battling the stigma around what it looks and feels like to manage asthma. Over a four-year span, I managed Respia Technologies, leading and liaising between engineers, doctors, designers, commercial and IP lawyers, regulatory and QMS consultants, investors, product users and buyers in both B2B and B2C channels. I grew the company from an idea, to a valuation over $1 million USD, and successfully raised over $150,000 USD for the project through venture capital, awards and government grants. I secured strategic partnerships with Dyson and the Sydney Children’s Hospital to champion and pilot the product in a clinical study led by world-class respiratory specialist doctors.
